January Accessment
25 days gone and nothing to show!
JANUARY ASSESSMENT
It is 6 days to the end of the first month of 2023. Contrary to the thought and expectation of many people, this January did not have 104 days, and it was fast. Most of the things I have planned to do this month haven’t been done, and I wonder if it is the month that is fast or if it is me who hasn’t been optimizing my time and being as productive as possible.
We are supposed to discuss the assessment of January today, but before the evaluation, we need to first ask, did you set goals for the month? What’s the fuss about goal setting again, you might be asking? The answer is simple: A goal is a direction. Let me tell you some things I planned for January:
- Taking a course on project management
- Writing an Ebook to help people who want to start a jewellery business.
- Finishing the book of Mathew
- 30 minutes workouts every day
- Writing at least four blog posts this month. Thankfully, this is the third.
- Studying a script
These 4 things I have started, but for some unexplainable reasons, I haven’t done up to half of them. Yes, I have a 9-5, and Lagos is a fantastic place that drains you of blood, water, money, and emotional resilience, but I also did promise myself that 2023 is not the year for giving excuses. That against the odds, I will fight for my dreams and achieve every goal.
Something interesting happened on Sunday. I beautifully learned resilience. We are preparing for the elections; we are required to collect our PVCs if you registered. My job won’t allow me to go on a weekday to collect, so I had to go on Sunday after attending streams of Joy service online. By the time I was done with chores and breakfast, it was almost 12, so I got ready and left the house.
I wasn’t sure where to collect this card, but with my fiancé’s help, I got to the location and headed there. I got to the place, and it was crowded. I felt hopeless because I wasn’t even sure where to begin, I asked questions, and everyone kept saying, “oh, you are late; you should come back next time. I decided to leave; I had to weigh my options and realized staying back was easier. What’s the worst that would happen? I would stay till evening and not still collect, but at least I did my best to wait and followed through the collection process (just submitting my slip and waiting for them to confirm my card’s availability).
While waiting, I had to endure the harsh sun accompanied by a patched throat, and it didn’t take long before I took off my wig because the heat was unbearable. I had spent an hour at the ward before I submitted the registration slip and waited for another hour before they came back to call the names of those whose cards were available, but my name wasn’t mentioned. Should I keep waiting, or should I just go home and come back again?
Still trying to figure out what to do, I stayed. Then the officials came out with all the cards and started calling names one after the other. Guess what? They called my name! I was delighted when I collected the card.
Why did I share this?
Last year, many people joined my dropshipping group, and many of them seemed to want to start the business because they needed money. So they start the business without any strategy, and after weeks of not making any money, they quit and run to look for the next best thing. One of the things I am glad I learned early in life which kept me resilient is this; Life is not about quick fixes, and there are no shortcuts to success.
It requires you to get out of your comfort zone, which might be you learning to wake up 1 hour earlier or sleep two hours later than everyone else just, so you get the work done. Making sacrifices that ordinary people will not make. Succeeding is beyond mere wishes and fantasies; it is about working. And just like the INEC office encounter, the conditions might not be favorable, and you might even meet naysayers who will think you are foolish for having those desires.
I like the Igbo word for persistence. It says KWECHIRI. In the hot scorching sun, kwechiri. When everyone says NO, Kwechiri. This is how you and I will win in 2023. So, in the spirit of “Kwechiri”, I am going back to those goals I missed and will write out the things that stopped me from achieving them. Address the root causes of those excuses and make plans on how to accomplish these goals in the coming month.
It is either I win, or I win. I strongly desire to become a successful person. How about you?

I definitely need more KWECHIRI in my life.
This past few days I procrastinated alot,as if to cover up for the days i had been doing really well(and i have been doing really well). This really encouraged me. No excuses! Kwechiri just became one of my daily mantras.
